No Man’s Sky – My Pledges

One of the most anticipated games in years is released on June 21st; No Man’s Sky is on its way. I can’t wait to play this (literally) universe-sized sandbox space adventure game. I’ve watched and read everything there is about the game and have decided to make some pledges about how I will play:

  1. I will remain on the planet I start on for at least three real-time days. There are billions of star systems to explore in No Man’s Sky but I plan to take my time with this game so I will not be rushing into space (unless forced to do so, by inhospitable environments etc).
  2. I will play as a trader and/or explorer, with minimum violence. I won’t aggressively follow a path of combat, instead focussing on survival and exploration. I will only engage in combat if absolutely necessary. I’ll defend myself, of course, but that’s it.
  3. I will play the game as much as I can with my wife. I have a feeling it’s the sort of game she’s really going to enjoy. I want us to experience it together, so late-night solo gaming sessions will consist of basic wandering about. I won’t explore anywhere new without her.

And those are all of the rules I’m setting myself. There is so much to do and see in this massive, massive game and I want to get the most out of it. I’m going to follow the “rough objective” of this game and head towards the centre of the universe, but not directly and I won’t rush there. I want to savour every odd planet I come across.

This game is going to blow my mind, I know. June can’t come quickly enough! For gameplay videos and trailers, search YouTube for “No Man’s Sky”.
