I’ve waited a long time for No Man’s Sky, the epic space exploration and survival game from independent studio Hello Games. It almost arrived back in June but, as is often the case with ambitious games these days, it was delayed. This morning we got notification that it has been despatched and is on its way.
The game features over 18 quintillion explorable planet-sized planets and a “near-infinite” universe of space dogfights, remote moons and some massive and exciting surprises. Thanks to the game’s clever use of procedural generation, no two planets are the same and many are filled with flora and fauna, again each species unique.
I have a plan to review this game – as well as anyone can review a game that is, basically, a unique experience for each and every player – as soon as I’ve given it a proper play. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that I revisit my thoughts on this game on a fairly regular basis. I’ve even toyed with the idea of doing weekly “mission reports” outlining the happenings in my game. I may still run with that format (and if I do I’ll put the reports on a separate page to avoid boring you all to death).
So, if you’re interested, join me soon for more on what promises to be a gaming experience unlike any other. I’m so excited to be able to say: Not long now!
